Backup and Restore: Feature in cPanel

cPanel is the management tool of the website that has all the features to access and manage website files and data. One of such feature is Backup and Restore. This feature allow users to maintain backup of website data and restore it as per the requirement.

Features of cPanel

It will be more understood with the given example. Suppose you have a website having lots of files/directories in File Manager, list of database in phpMyAdmin, number of email accounts and more data related to your website in cPanel. Now, what happen if you have mistakenly deleted a particular directory inside File Manager because of which your database is effected and thus website too. So, what could you do because you have not created any backup or have stored that directories data. To avoid such situation, cPanel provides the feature of backup and restore to manage the website and its data. Before proceeding further with the explanation related the feature let me tell you that I have used cPanel interface of REDSERVERHOST to illustrate the topic.

These are the two features that has been provided by the cPanel to its user to maintain backup and restore website data. These are Backup and Backup Wizard

Both these features allows user to create and restore backup of website files and data. And there is not much difference between the two. Now, let's see what are the various methods that both these features provide to create and restore backup of website data.

Backup

This feature of cPanel allows user to create backups in many ways. You can download full website backup or also maintain the partial one.

Full Website backup includes the backup of whole cPanel account. But in case of partial backup, you can download home directory backup, My SQL Database backup or e-mail forwarder as per your requirement. This can be understood with the below given image.

The use of Backup feature has been understood with the above given explanation. Now, the another feature provided by cPanel to backup and restore website data is Backup Wizard. Let us learn more about it in detail.

Backup Wizard

This feature also allows you to create and restore the backup. This feature also gives an option of full or partial backup of the website as per the choice. This can be understood with the images given below.

Now, as the example taken above. We can maintain the full backup of website data by using any of the above mentioned feature. And then restore the file/directory which has been deleted by mistake.

It is easy to maintain full website backup and restore the required files. But it is a kind of manual work that needs to be done.

Now, if we talk about the hosting service provider from where we get cPanel interface. There are many service providers in the industry that provide these bakup features and additional one to reduce the manual work. One of such feature is JETBACKUP. Yes, this feature is additionally available in my hosting services of REDSERVERHOST where I do not have to do even simple manual work to create backup.

This feature automatically maintains backup at the root level and I can restore the data easily if any data has been deleted from my cPanel account by mistake. It provide different options with which any type of website data can be restore just with one click.

You just have to select the type of data which you want to restore and then you will get list of all backup related to that data from where you can restore. Here, you will get some more additional options like Settings, DNS Zone Backups or Snapshots of which you can easily restore backup.
